DESCRIPTION OF CONTENTS
In the article, several results obtained after carrying out an investigation are approached; where they attempt to obtain the opinion of high school teachers in the province of Vigo, Autonomous Community of Galicia, regarding the possibility of obtaining a link between the phenomena of school absenteeism and attention to diversity. At the same time, they hope to investigate how specialized professionals can ideally develop interventions inside the school itself. The starting hypothesis of the work is that absentee students, independently from the reasons of the origin of the problem, face the educative process from a disadvantage situation and, therefore, find themselves in a situation worthy of compensating measures, stressing the importance of the actions carried out by the school and their peers. Specifically, the author highlights a series of very interesting causes, such as the following ones: consequences of the social conditions of the subject, deliberate and voluntary behavior of the subject, expression of the integration difficulties when facing the lack of individual or with the school identification, results of the interactions originated in the school context and consequences of the mechanisms of organization and functioning in the school and of its educative practices.
Finally, the results of the investigation confirm the existence of a direct interrelation between school absenteeism and attention to diversity, at the same time that it investigates the necessity of specialized professionals in schools.
COMMENTS ON THIS PUBLICATION
This work analyzes the importance that education and formation have for teenagers on their individual development, but also highlights the importance that these two have on their development in society. It reminds of the right that we all have, and that in Spain is also an obligation, of studying basic education, as it is described in the text endorsed by the Constitution of 1978, the Organic Law of 8/1985 Regulating of the Right of Education or the Organic Law of 2/2006 of Education.
For all of the above, among the explicit foundations that the author finds to justify said investigation, this obligatory nature of education is highlighted, as one of the indicators that worries not only the public administration but also society itself. The author starts from the three great risk factors of early school leaving: social conditions, which are influenced by the family and group of peers; individual features and the educative context itself. This way, the author defends an integral approach to the phenomenon of school absenteeism, where the absentee is worthy of aid, since, at the same time that schooling is made compulsory, it is necessary that schools answer to this compulsory nature appropriately. In the results of the investigation, it is obvious the necessity of incorporating to high schools new professionals with specific formation to work on school absenteeism or to attend to the necessities of the students, a proposal that has been heavily demanded by the teachers.
Clearly, this work is of great importance to improve the understanding and approaching to school absenteeism, as it describes its great risk factors and it offers an alternative to face it through an integral educative model in which, in addition of the relevant adults, teachers and families; specialized professionals in giving an adequate response to the necessities of these students.
