DESCRIPTION OF THE SUCCESS STORY
My name is John. I am now at the 1st grade of secondary school in a school in Patras, Greece. This is actually my second attempt to finish the 1st grade of the school. When I was in the beginning of the school year in the 1st grade I was trying to participate in the school process. This was easy at the beginning but early enough I was losing focus. Well, I did not know that this was my problem, but I managed not to keep attention to the teacher for a long time. I found the rest of the class more interesting than maths or literature.
During my homework, my mother did not have time to focus in my preparation for the school. I have a brother and a baby sister and the later takes all the attention in home. Early enough I was not following the progress of the rest of the classroom. During the semester exams, my ranks were really bad. At the final exams I failed!
My mother was unhappy since I had to get back to the same grade. One of my uncles decided to help with school. He was a very patient man and he insisted in staying always next to me during my homework and every two weeks he has visited my school and consultant my teachers. Uncle Themis decided to ask in a local doctor for advice. Based on the things that he provided, the doctor said that I managed to lose focus very easily. He gave to my uncle several games that could help me and improve my focused period in work. The games really worked. Now I manage to follow most of the classes. Uncle is still giving me extra help, support and more games in order to improve my situation.
CRITICAL ANALYSIS
The story is a success story, since the boy is now fully aware of his problem. The family and its extended environment are fully aware of the situation and the proper solution that need to follow. Observation in the family environment, student care and personal interest can help students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
