Description of Contents
This website is part of PACER 's National Bullying Prevention Cente whit base in Minnesota. This focus was originally created by a group of parents with children with disabilities in order to provide mutual support and now have created this special school against school bullying . On the web, also a first part for the general public , there are also sections for specific audiences : for families, for children and adolescents. The latter is the one selected for this review. The main aim of the website is to help those teens who want to change their behavior or take action against bullying , but do not know how to act. According to this material , bullying can finish, but this will not happen if students , parents and educators together , not working and taking simultaneous measurements . And for that part of the idea that the problem becomes an opportunity to make a change towards improvement. And contributes to this by reaching millions of people their motto : "The end of bullying begins with me ! "
The site aimed at teenagers , has a menu with five main sections: identify, respond , listen , act and resources. In each adolescent is different levels of information and resources. For example, in the section dedicated to respond , you must choose whether they are aggressors , victims or spectators and , once selected , is a list of issues that must be considered and examples of how to do it. All this with a great range of support : activities , videos , news , stories, etc ... More deriving many hyperlinks to other pages with similar content .
Review
The website structure is very clear: Perhaps for an adult more difficult to read than a book, but certainly for teenagers is more attractive and easy to use . Besides the appearance is very adapted to recipients with images of teenagers who are offering advice. Very important for kids this age as the same are one of the best sources of help and who more often rely because they are assuming greater empathic ability to understand their personal situations . Also the colors, font and graphic everything is adapted to the age of the recipients. In fact , as stated on the web , much of the content is designed and facilitated by adolescents.
