DESCRIPTION OF CONTENTS
School systems are collapsing everywhere, even where they seem stable. The school seems more to make up for family and social structures in crisis and is pedagogical administer treatment to a young population perturbed , helpless reference points . In the mass school teachers do not even have more function than had their predecessors select the intellectual elites , and thereby earn social recognition . Today's school systems , related to XIXth century , showed everywhere a double failure of efficiency and equity : the impossibility to acquire each one a minimum baggage of knowledge and skills and to democratize society , fostering , through education, social mobility . The gap also between the school and the computer world is the maximum. Digital natives are experiencing now open spaces of learning and how to access the knowledge manifold, far away from the rites school . It's enough to wonder about what support the school systems today , and if they still make sense.
COMMENTS ON THIS PUBLICATION
The theme of the book , as well as the analysis of the Italian school system , as is to offer members of the younger generation a ' universal education policy, education minimum , defined by the author poor, but acquired by everyone without exception. It does not matter the age at which this " common base of knowledge skills " is achieved . You might agree on whether this collective heritage of common knowledge and skills to be acquired prior to any specialist study and prior to any kind of vocational education and training . What matters is the goal, but to make sure that they reach you all you need to know to be modest , be demanding and fair.
The second track of the pedagogy of poverty is referred to the killing of a pillar , apparently democratic continues to create huge disparities : the universality of benefits , i.e. free access for all to education. This pillar has actually penalized the poor. A very significant percentage of the younger generation fails during compulsory education to enhance their skills and enhance their personality.
This is the challenge that presents itself to the public school systems or state that they are . It does not matter , says the author , if you have to sacrifice or give up the universality of benefits to devote much more attention to the disenfranchised population that suffers from the current state of their school systems and is hopelessly marginalized.
